When you’re happier, it’s radiant and obvious in your face =)
Hola, Que tal?
Wow, what a roller coaster it’s been! This week, last week, this month-so crazy!
I am beginning to feel alive (er), vibrant (er), happy (er). NEW! The words have not been invented to describe how I feel..Ok, they probably have but I have to go out for a jog with fonzie and i don’t have much time to prettify this post. Work is amazing. yes, you heard it right, amazing! Today i met with one of my dream clients and i think we are a handshake away from closing!!! so exciting!
I have been reading more and more every single day. I read about 3 books at the same time, i don’t know how, but it makes sense to me. I feel like I need to “feed” different parts of my brain. I’m going to be in SF tomorrow-(holla Jimrock! and Wendy!) Gonna be at a Gitomer Sales Seminar…Gitomer wrote “Little Red Book of Selling”, “Sales Bible” and a bunch of other little gems. Yes, i’m a total groupie so hopefully he signs my books and I get a pic with him =)
And i’ve had a cold, a pretty bad one but I’m so energized that I just have kept going and going! I think I’m almost back at 100%
I’m going to be Hello Kitty for Halloween. This is my Photoshop chop of how it’s going to look (using a Halloween photo from last year + the mask I bought).
I disagree. Unless the lamp is free and the lamp is replacing one of the important light sources in the user’s home (i.e. kitchen light), the user will not think about their wastefulness. Also, where is this blood coming from? :P
What if power came at a cost to the individual? The average American consumes 3383kwh of energy per year. That’s equivalent to leaving the light on in 4 rooms for a whole year. The simple flick of a switch allows us to power appliances and gadgets 24/7 without a thought to where it comes from and the cost to the environment. For the lamp to work one breaks the top off, dissolves the tablet, and uses their own blood to power a simple light. By creating a lamp that can only be used once, the user must consider when light is needed the most, forcing them to rethink how wasteful they are with energy, and how precious it is.

The two last sentences describe how I feel about this. And I’m a designer. Hah.

arial & helvetica -or- helvetica & arial
on friday, i hosted a screening of helvetica for some buddies of mine that didn’t know that there were other typefaces besides times new roman. it turns out, there ARE other typefaces and one of them is helvetica (and another of them is papyrus.)
the documentary does not explore the relationship between helvetica and microsoft’s derivative, arial. so to help ignite the post-viewing dialogue, i made this supplement illustrating the key differences in letterforms. however, in place of any spirited debate, my buddies decided instead to take turns delivering roundhouses to my jaw, saying “a documentary about a font is as interesting as it sounds.” i could not agree more.
